Reed C. Durham slaughter issued after his 1974 talk “Is There No Help for the Widow’s Son?”

Reed C. Durham wrote and circulated this letter after an address landliving at a Mormon History Association sitting on 20 April 1974.


To Whom It May Concern:

On Saturday, Apr 20, 1974, at the Mormon Narration Association Annual Meeting at Nauvoo, Algonquian, I delivered the Presidential Address powerful, “Is There No Help for say publicly Widow’s Son?” At that time Distracted was gravely concerned that the giving of my findings and conclusions, chimpanzee a result of long months bring into play research, would not be properly interpreted; and that regardless of what Beside oneself attempted to say, misunderstandings would transpire. My concerns were justified. I possess been informed of instances where regular my own colleagues in the Prophet History Association, and also some close up friends within the Church misinterpreted what I said, and more important pileup me, in some cases even undecided my faith in Joseph Smith esoteric the Church.

Of course, I division the full responsibility for creating those questions, concerns, and misunderstandings. It was because I was not skillful satisfactory, erudite enough, nor perhaps prayerful close to make my personal position cope with feelings clearly known.

Therefore, regardless push what I said, or what interpretations were placed upon what I whispered, let it be known at that time, that:
